The power of thought

Negative thoughts

We humans think about 60,000 thoughts every day and most of them are negative! This makes us feel bad if we don't make ourselves aware of them. It can be about comparing ourselves to others and stressing ourselves out about everything we should be doing.

How to shift thought?

Top blue image. Here we are completely absorbed in what our thoughts are telling us. The thoughts are our truth.

Middle image. Here we try to get rid of the thoughts and what happens is that they almost certainly come back. "I can't think about a pink elephant" guarantees that we will think about pink elephants.

Bottom image. Here we become aware of what we are thinking by starting to:

  • observe/discover/reveal the thoughts (you can use meditation to help you in the beginning)
  • say stop but don't try to get rid of them
  • accept the thoughts, see them as clouds in the sky, which makes you an observer of the thoughts
  • take a deep breath while counting to four - hold your breath while counting to four - breathe out while counting to four
  • focus on something with the help of your senses, such as peeling an orange or describing in detail something you are looking at
  • now you can change your thoughts - change your perspective by focusing on what uplifts and gives you energy

Notice what you are talking about or thinking about. What thoughts are coming "out of your mouth" or are inside you?

Have you ever managed to break a negative thought? How did you do it? Did you use any of the techniques above?

Change glasses - change perspective

The power of what we think and expect is crucial to how we feel and what we create. We can decide what we focus on. If we focus on what creates negative feelings, we feel worse, and if we focus on what we appreciate and are grateful for and other things that create positive feelings, we feel better. Being able to change glasses - changing perspectives makes us feel so much better.
